How the product fits together

TruStacks is AI delivery governance: the control layer between the agents that write your software and the systems that run it. This guide walks through every screen in the TruStacks app (app.trustacks.com), what it shows you, what it means, and what you do there.

One sentence holds the whole product together: agents propose, policy decides, humans approve. Every screen in the app is a view onto one part of that loop.

The loop

connect → analyze → propose → gate → approve → deploy → score
StepWhat happensWho does itWhere you see it
ConnectYou install a runner in your own cluster, set an LLM key, create an Application and connect its repos through the TruStacks GitHub App.YouGet set up, Runners, Settings, Applications
AnalyzeThe Code Reviewer reads a service repo and describes it: framework, language, runtime, tests, Dockerfile, CI.AgentApplications → service → Analyses
ProposeThe DevOps Engineer turns the analysis and your declared stack into delivery artifacts (a reusable CI workflow, a Helm chart or Kustomize base, an ArgoCD Application).AgentProposal detail
GateThe artifacts are validated (do they render, parse and use legal names?) and then evaluated by OPA against the signed constitution plus any overlay rules you run. A deny stops the run. No PR opens.PolicyProposal timeline, Rules, Overview → Policy in force
ApproveOn allow, the runner opens a pull request against your platform repo. A person on your team reviews and merges it. Nothing merges itself.YouYour Git provider; the Overview queue tells you a PR is waiting
DeployYour ArgoCD deploys what was merged. Every Application TruStacks emits uses manual sync, so someone presses Sync.Your stackApplications deploy-status chips (optional observer)
ScoreA gap analysis reads your declared stack, checks it against the rules, consults the specialist agents and produces a maturity score per Application.Agent + policyGap analyses, Maturity, Stack

The loop is deliberately one-directional at the merge. TruStacks authors the right artifact; you run it on your stack. TruStacks never merges a PR, never syncs your ArgoCD and never operates your CI.

Where things run

  • Your cluster runs the runner. It calls out to TruStacks over HTTPS (nothing calls in), clones your repos, runs the agents, evaluates policy and opens PRs. Credentials it needs are written as Secrets in your namespace. See Runners.
  • The TruStacks control plane (api.trustacks.com) stores your workspace: Applications, connection records, run history, events and scores. It hands jobs to the runner and serves this app.
  • Your LLM provider (Anthropic or OpenRouter, under your own key) receives what the agents send it while they work, which includes the repository files they read. See Settings.
  • Your Git provider and ArgoCD stay yours. PRs land in your platform repo; your ArgoCD deploys from it.

The nouns you will meet

  • Application: a set of services promoted together across tiers (dev, uat, prod). It owns exactly one platform repo and a list of target clusters. Maturity is scored per Application. See Applications, repositories and services.
  • Service: a connected service repo bound to an Application. Today one repo is one service.
  • Platform repo: the GitOps repo where proposals land as PRs. It also holds environment-profile.yaml.
  • Environment profile: environment-profile.yaml at the root of the platform repo. Your declaration of the tools you run and the behaviors you attest to. Every agent reads it. See Environment profile reference.
  • Analysis: one Code Reviewer run against one service at one ref.
  • Proposal: one DevOps Engineer run built from one analysis, ending in a PR, a policy deny, a “nothing to change”, or an error.
  • Gap analysis: one scoring run for one Application, ending in a report with a maturity tier.
  • Constitution: the TruStacks-authored, signed Rego rules every proposal is judged against. Overlay: rules you add on top.

Reading order

If you are new, read the guide in the order the sidebar lists it: it follows the setup path first (Get set up, Runners, Settings, Applications, Stack), then the daily surfaces (Overview, Workspace), then scoring (Gap analyses, Maturity, Rules), then the rest.

TruStacks is in Beta. Each page in this guide has a Beta limits section that says plainly what is partial, what is sample data, and what is not built yet. If the app and this guide disagree, the app is right and the guide is stale. Please tell us (the app’s sidebar carries a Join our Discord link when community support is enabled for your workspace).
